~ It's Coming Down ~

We were going to tackle the project of the barn with a renovation. It needs to be jack-up and leveled, have footings poured for the post to sit on, the rafters need so come off so new 7 foot walls could be put up and then the rafters put back on and a new roof, new siding...the list goes on and on.

I love this barn, its been on God's green earth for as many years as I have been here. It was never finished but has served us well. My dad built it himself.

So, we will carefully demo it, saving all that is good and reusing it. All of the old siding is going to be the walls in the new farm office. Windows, even though single pane, will all find a new home.

We will put a new barn in its place but this one will not be forgotten...

  1. The barn sure needs a lot of mending. But the fact that it was handmade by your father is enough to go on with this project. What siding did you use on it, by the way? Pine siding would’ve been great. The material is able to keep an excellent shape for years, even without paint. In any case, I like it that you were finding a new purpose for the materials from the old barn! :D
