~ Simple, Homemade, Creamy Iced Chai ~

What could be better on a hot day than a cold glass of iced chai tea?

Chai Tea
1/2 gallon glass jar of cold water + 6 organic Chai tea bags, flavor/brand of your choice.

We really like the one from Organic Pure. It is made with rooibus red tea, caffeine free and full of antioxidants. It also doesn't have soy lecithin or citric acid in it. However, I think that loose leaf teas have better flavors and are definitely cheaper, so I am going to order the Firefly Chai from Mountain Rose Herbs  when we are done with this box of Organic Pure.

Set the jar in direct sunlight outside and let brew for about 6 hours. Take out the tea bags and refrigerate. Pour half a glass of tea, add raw milk until the glass is full. [or you could try coconut milk if you are dairy free]. Sometimes we add a smidgen of maple syrup. My husband like to add an ounce or two of coffee, to give some extra flavor.

We have put this mixture in the blender with ice cubes for a frothy treat. It would be even better I think if I made some ice cubes out of tea and used those. My next experiment is chai icecream.

Do you have a favorite summer time drink?
