~ Keeping Ducks Interview ~

I was super excited to be interviewed by Farmer Liz from Eight Acres: The Blog about keeping ducks. I am far from being an expert on the subject but we have been successful with them for meat, eggs, and pets.

Here's a little bit of the interview:

What’s the best thing about keeping ducks?

They provide hours of entertainment as they waddled to and fro, they love a good rain storm and are really good in the garden. Last year the ducklings were in the potato patch and took care of all of the potato beetles but didn't harm a single plant.

For the full interview, pop on over to Liz’s blog post titled "Getting Started With Ducks".

I hope you enjoy it.  If you have any comments or question, please pop back here and post them.

  1. Megan - We were adopted by two male Pekin ducks roughly 2 years ago. Only discovering they were males about 6 months ago, I then invested in a couple of females.

I also found that they were very messy eaters - and that messiness was contributing to feeding and expanding the popularion of the local field mice, so I googled feeding ducks and came a cross a pic which I posted about here (http://ecofootprintsa.blogspot.com/2014/07/duck-and-dive.html)

I have to say that this method of feeding them their grain in water is working brilliantly :)
